WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Whether you have found me or I have found you, our relationship will be tailored to your needs:
First Contact
If you are actively on the lookout for your next career move then I approach this in very much the same way as I do for my clients: thoroughly. I have been on the receiving end of unwanted phone calls from recruiters with jobs that are a million miles away from what I am interested in and this is not the way I like to operate, so number one – I keep things relevant. I’ll need to know your non-negotiables, for some people it’s working for a particular size of company or wanting to move into a new field, for others it’s development opportunities or wanting to join a specific company you have been following for a while. I will keep in contact with you regularly, but this is set by you – whether once a week, once a year or every time something relevant comes up, I don’t want you to feel dread when you see my phone number appear!
Direction
Looking for a new role can be challenging if you feel lacking in direction, sometimes just talking things through can help and this is where I come in – many customers over the years have booked meetings with me ‘just to talk things through’ and by the end of the meeting we have come up with new ideas, focused on what our goals are and put a plan in place to achieve them. In my previous roles I have been a mentor and coach to many colleagues so open up – I’m listening.
Opportunities
Once I know what sorts of roles will tick your boxes, we can take it from there – it may be that you would like me to approach a specific company on your behalf, it may be that I just contact you when something relevant comes up – whatever plan we come up with I’ll stick to it unless you decide to rethink further down the line. I tend not to advertise the roles I’m working on and have built strong relationships with my clients to ensure that I’m first to hear of new roles, this means that you will be too.
Guidance
Once you’re in the loop for a role, things start to get exciting! As I have done with you, I build strong relationships with my clients which is key to helping you through their interview process. These days, companies interview and ‘test’ their potential new recruits in a variety of ways whether online, over Skype, a casual coffee meeting or a full day assessment centre. Whatever the process you’re in, I will guide you each step of the way from helping you practice your presentation to sharing tips on what will set you apart from the competition. Whatever the outcome of the interviews with my clients, I promise to always give you timely, applicable feedback. If negative, we’ll work on it together and figure out whether it’s something you can address or whether actually it just wasn’t the right fit this time. If successful, we’ll move along to getting your offer accepted – I’ll guide you through your new contract to make sure you are 100% happy with the total package and if not, I can respectfully negotiate on your behalf.
The Future
Having joined your new company I’ll touch base periodically over the first few months to make sure you’re settled and then it’s up to you – maybe you’ll send me a referral or two, maybe you’ll be in a position to do the recruiting and you’ll become a client. Whatever happens, I’ll be here if or when you need me again.
